AEP Ohio’s Bid4Efficiency Program is, by all accounts, the first utility program in the country to utilize a real-time online reverse auction to allocate energy efficiency dollars. This program utilizes a real-time online reverse auction platform to determine the true incentive rate required to move energy efficiency project forward. Through this unique program design AEP Ohio was able to achieve an average incentive rate of $0.034/kWh for delivered energy efficiency projects. The program design also allows AEP Ohio to determine the appropriate incentive rate for a given market, technology and customer sector.
