Columbia Gas of Ohio is Ohio's largest natural gas distribution company with 1.4 million customers in 61 of Ohio's 88 counties. In 1987, working with 5 community-based organizations that operate the federal weatherization assistance program in Ohio, Columbia Gas of Ohio created its WarmChoice program to weatherize the homes of high use, low income customers in its service territory. WarmChoice cost shares energy efficiency measures with Ohio’s Weatherization Assistance program, when possible. Over the past 26 years, the program has achieved energy savings results that put it in the upper echelon of low income energy efficiency programs in the United States. In addition to creating exemplary natural gas savings for its customers, the program improves the health, safety, comfort, affordability and durability of customers’ homes, while also reducing customer payment arrearages in Ohio's Percentage of Income Payment Program.
